Operation Pollinator and Sites of Special Scientific Interest

Operation Pollinator is designed to enhance the ecological value of selected areas of the golf course. It is not intended to replace or in any way adversely affect existing areas of ecological resources or environmental initiatives. A full assessment of existing flora and fauna is recommended before commencing Operation Pollinator establishment.

Where a golf course is covered by a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) any management action, including measures to introduce Operation Pollinator, must only be undertaken in conjunction with the management agreement and with the prior consent of the managing body.  The managing body will be Natural England, Scottish Natural Heritage or the Countryside Council for Wales - according to where you are located.

In some instances, depending on the extent and the purpose of the SSSI designation, it may still be possible to incorporate Operation Pollinator, but only with the express approval of the appointed SSSI manager.
