Syngenta appoints new Technical Manager for Landscape & Biologicals

Syngenta has appointed plant health specialist, Diego Salvador, as the company’s new Landscape & Biologicals Technical Manager for TreeCare, forestry and vegetation management for the Europe, Africa & Middle East (EAME) region.

Diego’s role will include developing a range of innovative crop protection and bio-control products for effective integrated pest and disease management in trees, amenity turf and ornamentals production. He will also establish Syngenta’s industry best-practice education TreeCare Academy for customers and deliver the launch of the new TreeCare App.

His previous role, as Syngenta Professional Solutions crop advisor for turf & landscape and ornamental growers in Iberia, has provided a wealth of experience and understanding of customers’ challenges and developing practical solutions across the industry.

Diego has pioneered the use of pheromones and implementing the potential of new biologicals in TreeCare and turf, along with supporting training initiatives to enable their effective use and reliable results.

Having studied environmental law and forestry engineering at universities in central and south-east Spain, he was instrumental in developing the first use of digital multispectral and thermal imaging for forest management.

“It is an incredibly exciting time for the development of new technologies that hold huge potential to transform the management of our essential tree and amenity resources, as well as enhance the sustainable production of ornamentals,” highlighted Diego.

“Syngenta has a highly effective portfolio of products to help customers, along with a strong pipeline of innovations and digital support tools that will continue to deliver more reliable and consistent results from integrated control strategies.

“Biocontrols will have an increasingly important role in managing plant health. It is an exciting prospect to be involved and to help our customers to get the best from the existing and future technologies,” he added.

Along with working directly with customers, Diego will support Syngenta teams across the region to provide full technical training and advice. He will also work at a strategic level with stakeholders and policymakers, to assure the interests of forestry and amenity management in developing pest and disease control strategies.

As a key part of the rapidly expanding Syngenta EAME Turf & Landscape team, Diego will work alongside the global TreeCare capability, with access to the company’s $1.2 billion annual investment in R&D and commitment to creating sustainable strategies and solutions for customers.
