A key element of the Voluntary Initiative (VI) is the
provision of environmental information on turf management products.
Syngenta has committed to do this by producing Environmental
Information Sheets (EIS) for the company's professional
products.
What is an EIS?
An EIS is composed of clearly presented product specific
environmental impact information. It highlights quickly and simply
any situations where risk management is essential to ensure
environmental protection. EIS reinforce, and supplement, the
information presented on a product's label. The presented risk
information on the EIS assumes operator compliance with both the
product's recommended conditions of use and good practice.
How is an EIS produced?
Syngenta EIS are produced in accordance with the industry
standardised EIS Guidance Notes. The guidance has had input from
and been endorsed by the UK pesticide regulatory authority, the
Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD).
Why & how is an EIS used?
The purpose of EIS is to provide user-friendly information to
advisers and turf managers on the environmental impact of products.
Using the EIS in conjunction with the product's label operators can
plan and make decisions in accordance with local conditions with a
better understanding of the practical implications.
